Xbox 360 Gets Moving

Xbox 360 is coming out with motion control for its system called, Kinect for Xbox 360. It is a 3D peripheral-free motion sensing camera that is expected to push Microsoft gaming into the future. It allows gamers to interact without the game controller but through voice commands and hand gestures. The video game playing as we know it will be completely changed.

Some believe that by taking away the tactile response you are dulling the experience. There is a use for the controller the brain needs touch-based indexes in order to maneuver intricately. But Microsoft rolls out new games that are exciting and showcase the appeal of Kinect.

It can be purchased with Xbox 360 for $300 or sold separately for $150 it is expected to hit store in October 2010 in time for this Christmas season.

Microsoft's Surface Computing

Surface computing will bring an end to the standard keyboard and mouse. This technology was developed back in 2007. It was thought then that the technology would be available for personal use in 3 to 4 years which would be before the year 2012. This technology will catapult computing in the same way that Microsoft introduced graphics to replace DOS commands.

Blackberry Torch Coming August 2010

The Torch, Research In Motion, Ltd's first device with a touchscreen and a full-alphabet keypad, is very reminescent of the old Palm Treo.  RIM, revealed the phone Tuesday (August 3rd, 2010) saying that they are still in the smartphone game but agreed that they are playing catch up to other carriers.

My drawbacks with this phone is that it is a slider.  I believe that moving parts are very apt to break sooner then later especially when constantly having to slide in order to text.  Although it will be up against the iPhone and the Android its most similar rival is the Samsung Epic 4G.

This year RIM sold its 100 millionth Blackberry and is still the most popular smartphone in the US ahead of the iPhone. AT&T plan's to start selling the Torch in stores by August 12th for $199 with a two-year contract.

Kindle has recently released update 2.5.4 which gives users social media enhancements. Facebook and Twitter capabilities are available now. Although not easily found and extra steps are necessary to access it is still a cool feature to have.

Taking tweets one step further with the Kindle you can highlight passages or quotes from the current book you are reading and tweet that to your followers. You are able to tweet a passage of any size due to Twitter taking the information and creates a link to the passage and subsequent Amazon page which in turn features the book cover image and title for you. Along next to Twitter there is also the Facebook sharing option.

Sony Laptops Run Too Hot 1/2 Million RECALLED

I have never been a fan of Sony products, I have seen more than a few with blown hard drives. The company announced yesterday from its Tokoyo offices that it is recalling over half a million laptops that it has sold worldwide due to cooling issues. They have found a defect in the temperature control that may cause excessive heat and distort the shape of the laptop. There is also a concern that since the laptop is putting off so much heat skin burns may occur as well.
